Do you really believe what you're saying? What makes the AEM intake tube any different than a "ebay" cold air tube? Does AEM put some magical "flow better" paint on their intake tubes?
If I was in the market for a CAI, I would definitely buy an "ebay" CAI intake tube and a K&N filter to put on the end of it.
Seriously, I was just curious what kind of numbers this style of intake makes cause these types of intakes have been around the longest (Akimoto still make them this way I think).

those fake ebay intakes are good for nothing!...go buy urself a aem cai..and u'll notice a diff.(if u dont have one already)
Its been a long *** time since I saw the last dyno plots on CAIs, but if I remember right, ALL cold air intakes lost power compared to stock except for AEM, Comptec, and Injen.

I'm a big stock intake box fan, see https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=154439&page=2
Now, you bring up something that I'm very curious about, what makes the AEM or INJEN any better than say a "ebay" CAI (shown below)?

Ain't nothing like this link to show it up even better!

for one the AEM's make power, thats what makes them better than a crapy filter on a stick, also they have an air horn in their filters which also makes them different.

Yeah, that's what I figure. Ever seen OBX underdrive pullies...the look EXACTLY like AEM pullies.
"ebay" CAI Pipe + K&N filter will have the same performance as AEM CAI, anybody think different?

all the pipes and **** are made the same in the same factory and just get a different name on each one. just get a K and N filter ! K and N filter + any CAI pipe =
The Injen intakes are made of aluminum and the cheap Ebay intakes are made of steel. Aluminum dissipates heat better than steel does. The hoses are also made of different quality where taiwan uses rubber and Injen hoses are made of silicone. All the Taiwan crap are all made the same, but Injen are made in-house and are all dyno proven to make more horsepower, even more than AEM also. Check out the link http://www.injen.com/testing.html

Aluminum is a better heat conductor than steel. Which will mean, the intake tube will heat up faster and cool faster. But the main cooling agent will be the intake charge air going into your engine. I would heat wrap any metal intake tube regardless if it were steel or aluminum.
The cheapo CAI's that I have seen in person are made out of aluminum.

I always read that short ram is better with big cams and high rev. Is there any prove to this?
I've dyno'd my B16a with a stock EG airbox and with an intake at night. Powerband was even except for some point around 6k and that was only a 1-2hp. I'd rather save the money and keep the engine running cooler (i.e. fluidyne, thermostate, etc.) Imagine dyno'ing or running at the track on a hot day.

intake on a stick = 20 HP to the wheels
pick it up and slap it on your R
priceless,loll

Some makers are outfitting their cars w/dual stage intakes. My understanding is that it will give you the benefits of the long and short intakes. Think of it as VTEC for your intake? I'm not 100% on that, so maybe someone knows better.

.....you will have better throttle response with the so called "hot air intake" which is not really hot when the car is moving, also make more power depending on your mods. Or you could just modify the stock system with a k&n intake and the resonator box out.
ok since were on this subject, how is that a comptec intake better then stock? it looks the same with basicly the same set up. is it just the filter thats make it better? if so why not just put in a comptec filter in the stock intake box and same some money.
