compression, spark, fuel, but no running motor? looking for ideas.
Well I did a swap on a 96 Prelude about 1 month ago. Got it running everything was perfect except for the fact that it idled @ 2k for a reason I am unable to figure out.
The guy tells me he was just driving and the car was running perfect and then basicallly dies. He pulled into a parking lot where it sits now unable to start.
- Motor turns over fine
- 200+ compression on all cylinders
- Every cylinder get spark
- Every injector is spray fuel
- Timing has to be correct or the compression numbers would be off.
- Assuming valve lash would also be correct or compression numbers would be off
- Can't be main relay cause that cuts spark and fuel, plus I swapped one anyway.
Any other ideas for what might have caused this joker to die and not start now? I thought maybe something like a map sensor, but even then it would start, it would just run like crap.
Also I have yet to change the spark plugs which I might add were pretty coated in fuel, however the still sparked very bright. I will be changing those tonight.
Keep in mind an idea why the cars idle may have been so high. I don't believe it to be a vacuum leak. The box on under the intake manifold that I believe has some control over the butterflies came broken but I capped off the line and the hole so there was no leakage.
Thanks for any ideas, sorry about the length.
