I attatched a picture for visual aid.
My gas pedal in my Civic Si seems to have a bit of "slack/stiffness/stickyness" prior to stepping on it. I have to press the pedal in with a little bit of force, but not too great of force. Here is the image:



The first shows the pedal prior to being pressed, the 2nd is when it does get pressed. There is that slack right between the pedal not pressed to how much I have to apply a little bit of force until the pedal becomes smooth again. I have checked the spring in the engine and it doesn't seem the problem comes from there. I WD40ed the inside of the pedal to see if that's the problem. Can anyone help me out with this problem with the slack? Thanks.!

 

do you have an aftermarket throttlebody?

 

try checking for carbon in the throttle body.

 

it could be the cable needs tightening.....thats what mine was....the metal from the cable was getting caught on the harness...and it was making it stick....it could be that

 

To my knowledge, my throttlebody is stock.

 

well in that case get a new one or take it off and soak it in some engine cleaner

aftermarket pedals with backing plates or anything that can grab the carpet?
holes in carpeting?
anything stuck on the back of the pedal?

Readjust your throttle cable - they have a tendency to be rather loose from the factory. There is information pretaining to your situation on http://www.clubsi.com/ - just do a general search.

 

try lubing the trottle cable. I had the same problem. It was corrosion caused by some moisture.

 

Any specific type of lube should I use?

 

i have the same problem in my si, someone on here told me i have to adjust something on the throttle body, and its not the cable

 

my friend has a ls swap in his hatch and he had this problem and it was his throttle cable

 

So lilblacksol What method did he use to clear it up? The lubing of the cable? Or any other method.

 

his was simply too loose

 

throddle cable may need tightening or the rotor needs cleaning and greasing
