For the knock sensor, should i just wire it directly from the knock sensor plug to the correct pin in the ecu harness?

The only reason i question this is because of the harness i am using. I have a 97 B18b1, and i am swapping a B18c1. HOWEVER, the B18c1 was in a 96 Civic. So i basically just removed all of the wiring so i could hook them up to my harness (IACV, VTEC oil pressure, and VTEC solenoid). The last one is the knock sensor.

But when i went to go pull the knock sensor wire out of the GSR harness, it was a red/blue wire and i followed it to where there is a brown wire tapped off of it (this is a factory/oem tap too). the brown wire goes to a brown harness and ends there. The red/blue knock sensor wire is covered in a thick blue wire cover and it goes directly to the knock sensor plug.

So my queston is, do i need that brown wire when i wire the knock sensor up to my B18b1 ecu harness, or do i just wire the knock sensor directly up to the ecu harness and not worry about the brown wire that is tapped off of it? thanks for reading.

just use 1 wire to the correct pin and the 2nd wire ground.

 

so u think that brown wire is just a ground then? if so, that is nice and simple.
