Default Del Sol Maintenece Questions

I just picked up my new del sol tonight. Its a 93 SI. I dont have the owners manual, and incase I cant find a haynes this weekend, I had some basic maintence questions, that if someone could answer I would be very appreciative!

Oil Capacity?

Tranny Oil Capacity

Tranny Oil Type? (I assume its 5-30 like my teg was, so I can use redline MTF?)

OEM Tire Size

That should get me through the weekend I am so exicited. Driving it home tonight really made me miss my teg but now I have a new toy to play with!

Couple of other questions

The oil leak around the valve cover, I assume is the same valve cover gasket problem that all honda's have?

I have this grinding noise coming from the tranny, its intermittent, but very loud, and goes away when the clutch is pressed in. I dont know if its the input shaft or something from the clutch. This car sat for awhile and hasnt been driven that much in the last 2 years, so I need to drain and replace alot of fluids!

your tranny noise could be the throwout bearing.

185/60/R14 is the size on my tires on my 93 Si, but I'm not entirely sure if that is what the stock size is. I haven't had any problems with these though =P

As for oil capacity, I put 4 liters plus .5 liters of Lucas Oil Additive in last time I changed so I guess it could be anywhere from 4-4.5 This put me right at the second dot by the way =/

thank you! Does anyone have an owners manual handy that could check the exact amount, and also check the tranny oil capacity?

I've got a full set of Sol manuals, but they changed engines in 96 and my set is for 97.

Most (all?) of the engines & transmissions used in the Sol were used in other Hondas, so you could peek into the engine bay, write down the engine & transmission codes, and from there I bet the info you want would be in older H-T threads.

FWIW, I have the same erratic noise from my transmission, and it's the input shaft bearing. My throwout bearing has been replaced, lubed, & replaced, so I'm damn sure it's not the throwout bearing. For the most part - noise when the clutch is depressed normally means the throwout bearing, noise when the clutch is released normally means input shaft bearing. (for a noise that goes away based on pedal position)

Good luck with your purchase, hope she turns out to be as reliable as mine.
