final gear for dd
Looking for a final gear setup, but not sure which to go with. This is my daily driver and will go on a few track runs, but mostly street. I'm a little confused with all of the different sizes and their application. I would be looking for more acceleration off the line and during mid-speed driving. Also I have read you need to send off your diff. Is this safe as far as actually getting your diff back and not some crappy look alike. I would like to go with J's, as I have decided to go with most of their parts in the future.
Thanks for any help/advice you can give me.

do not bother with j's gears....they are overpriced mazda gears. supposedly just rebadged but that is a rumor.
when you say DD, do you drive on the highway often? is this for an AP1 or AP2?
I have the 4.77 and I used to DD, 50% city and 50% highway. Yes the rpm's are higher (5100 at 80 in 6th) but it never bothered me. I have an AP1

maybe about 60% city, 40 % highway (live in Jax, FL), make some often trips to Daytona Beach too. AP2 - 04.
Also what about the swap?? If I went with Rick's who does the swap? Are they Trustworthy?
Thanks

i would not put a 4.77 in an AP2. I suggest the 4.56 from Rick's and have the install done by hardtopguy. He did mine and I have no complains/no problems

Just out of curiosity, why not put a 4.77 into an AP2?

mainly for highway reasons, i'm already at 5100rpm at 80. with the same set up in an ap2, you'd be at 5400-5500 or more rpms which is high. its very close to vtec. all assuming the gearing calculator in my head is accurate

I just talked to Jeff @ Rick's two days ago about this...apparently Rick's is no longer offering the 4.77's.
