crx seats in hatchback???
so i found some crx si seats and well, first off i know that the seat rails don't work but i really think these seats would look clean in my car (htach) and would like to know if there's a way this can be done....surely someone has done it before, looking for some help.
I thought about doing this for a while.....then i came across mint si seats.....which is what i would recommend u do. The thing that turned me off from putting the crx seats is that you will not be able to get rear seats that will match. However if you want to do this you have, as far as i know, 3 ways to do it.
1: drill holes in the body of the car and mount the seats with its own rails (not recommended)
2: weld brackets on the crx seat floor pan so it lines up with your car
3: swap the seat floor pans, this is what i would recommend

I did it once, swapped the seats from my 90 CRX Si into a 91 STD...
The rails were all wrong for the Civic. I forget exactly what I did. I believe I removed the Civic rails, modified them to fit the CRX seat pans. I think, though, that one part I ended up welding the rail to the pan, because the parts rubbed/squeaked when you sat on it.
There used to be writes up on this board somewhere... oh, about 3-4 years ago, when I did the swap..

I put 93 Del Sol Seats in my CRX, And I had to Take the CRX Rails off the original Seats, and Build a Frame for the del sol seats to sit on, and then A buddy of mine Welded them onto the Rails, The Difference between the 2 Sets of Seat Rails between Civic & Crx is the Mount point on the rear of the seat on the E Brake Side, I'd personally try to take the civic rails, Drill out the crx seats to match them, and bolt them up that way, make sure you have the seats lined up on the rails, or they will not slide right.

i never tried it myself but from what i know it is not difficult at all. i think you have to take the seats apart first using hex keys, then use needle nose pliers to remover the metal hooks that are holding the pan to the seat. If you are going to do this, first try this on your old seats...that way if you cant put it back together you will know either not to do it to the crx seats or learn how to do it.
like i said, i have never done this, but i know it has been done..... there used to be a write up on this, but i no longer have it nor do i know where i got it from...try searching the net and maybe you might find it. As far as the matterial goes, i think you should be able to stretch it and make it fit.........if you really want to do it, try it out, if it does not work you should be able to put back the original pans
