When I got a new tranny for my hf I got an L3. I have reason to belive thatis an si tranny. so what should the code for mine be?

 

i know the crx dx uses the l3 tranny... not quite sure about the si

 

i was told the si used it as well. maybe I just got one with some funny gears because after installing it my car accelerated a lot faster but cruised with a higher rpm on the freeway. I just need to know if the hf uses it as well?

 

well from wat ive heard ..on the diff. on the passenger side of it is a lil tiny stamp circled...inside it should say PT3/3000....or sumtin like that...but theres nothing proving it to me...

 

ALL 88-91 Civic/CRX manual trannys are labeled L3.
Do a search and you'll find my posts on the casting numbers by the tranny fill hole.

 

There's no diffierent.
DX, Si, LX, EX, HF 88-91 is L3

 

dx and si have same transmission but the only difference is the final drive gear.the other gear ratio are the same.

 

Incorrect.

They also have different sized bearings and a few other minor things.

 

I think they both had trans with the L3 code, I bought 2 Si Transmissions one was a 1990 SL3, and a 1991 L3 from a Si also, my old trans from my DX was an L3 code also and it was a DX trans with Dx gears., I think the code really doesn't mean squat, as long as you know for certain what it came out of.
