What did I forget to hook up?
I just finished plumbing my intake manifold for a direct port kit and I got the manifold back on the next day. When I tried to fire it up I had two problems. At first it would start and then sputter out. That's fine, I saw alot of fuel on the manifold, so I tightened down the banjo bolt on the fuel rail and the car quit dying on me. However, now the engine revs from 3000 rpm to 4000 rpm at idle. I check the throttle cable and made it looser, so that's not a problem. My fuel pressure jumps from around 34 psi to 40 psi. What would cause this?
Vacuum leak. Major one, too.
Did you re-placed the Intake Manifold gasket......Sound like a vacuum leak. Get a can of carburator cleaner and spray it around the Manifold to help you find your leak...
I replaced the manifold gasket, but I didn't use Hondabond on it, and I was really tired/weak when I was tightening everything down. My dad is going to give me a call the next time he has to swing through town, so that I can pull the intake manifold and reinstall it properly. If that doesn't work, we'll get to try to find what else I could have messed up.
