Another insurance option for us 2 car type r owners.
ive been looking into coverage with agreed valve for my 01 type r. incase of a total loss, i wont have to fight on what the insurance company valves my itr for.
seems always lower for most of us.
looks to me that collector/classic car insurace fits the bill.
for most of use we only use the itr only on a few occasion.
for the track/ occasional drive/ car meets.
one company i found, Hagerty, would insure our cars for Agreed Value Coverage. at least from what i read on their site.
the itr would fall under their Exotic and Special Interest vehicle coverage.
Must be 19 years old or newer. Rare or "limited production" vehicles built in the last 19 years, such as Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Dodge Vipers and Plymouth Prowlers, etc. may be eligible for our exotic and special interest vehicle program. Because these are newer vehicles that are often driven and used like a regular-use vehicle, Hagerty must ensure that the vehicle is being treated as a collectible.

anyway i went ahead and applied for an online quote and suprisingly it isnt bad.
i put the valve of the itr for $20k and the yearly premium was under $500.
i am going to call them tomorrow and try to get more info. office 8-8pm est.
just something to think about.

on paper no, but now-a-days sure... print out the slew of ITR Theft threads from this site, take it to them and tell them the Type-R Integra is ALOT more rare then they first thought.

I just had my ITR appraised last October by an appraiser in Vegas who has standings with most of the major insurance companies. I supplied the appraisal to my insurance agent and the car is now valued at that price, so if anything were to happen, there wouldn't be any BS over the value of the car.
I will throw up the guys info when I get to my home computer. It didn't change my rates either for having a higher vehicle value, which is a bonus.

yes
Update i just got off the phone with Hagerty. the agent tells me that since my daily driven can is older then the car i want to insure, she wont be able to even give me a quote over the phone.
Funny thing is my buddy, who told me about Hagerty in the 1st place, has a 2000 ws6 insured by them but is going through state farm. he also drives a older car.
i guess trying to get insured directly by Hagerty wont happen. ill try to go see my buddy's agent and see if they can do it for me.

great idea if they'll cover the car, but the guy who said print oput all the ITR theft threads and take them to the insurance company,,,, did you think about what you typed?
you, "hey man, here's 26 different ITRs that got stolen last month! there's a 76% chance that mine will be stolen! i race it at the track, and i want full coverage!"
insurance company, "okay! we love giving low rates on cars that will most likely end up a total loss due to theft or collision!"
not trying to be an ***, i just thought this was funny
