hey guys/gals. i just got a 96 civic dx hatch and someone i know really wants it. i have no idea what its worth. i went to kbb.com and it said $2500 but the average cost on auto trader is $4500.

as i said its a 96 civic dx hatch with 152,000. a/c,power steering,auto ,tinted windows. the bad stuff is it has no back seat(see pic) and a dent at the rear drivers wheel arch and other regular dings and dents.









and i forgot to add i just replaced the headgasket,water pump,timing belt, and timing blet tentioner. and i have a full integra gsr int too(not installed)

any help would be great

I would disagree, I would say 2.5 - 3

No offense man, no rear seats, the wheel arc dent, regular wear and tear, there's no way it'd be worth what is considered "excellent condition" -- If you compare that with the ammount of miles it has on it (which isn't too bad, but isn't the best), I'd be looking anywhere from 2.5k to 3/3.3k is probably the highest you could go

Even with the GSR I doubt you could get 4 for that, but hey, ya never know, post it as like 4k OBO then when you get an offer just start high and work ur way down, and don't sink below 3 I guess :-\

Depends how much the person knows about cars, etc.

also, auto civics are like auto vw's, and if you want to know what those are like go figure it out

 

Is that reflective tape? -$500 just for that.

 

The bad part is it is a sticker that looks like diamond plate. Its pretty bad. I haven't had time to remove it,its real hard and will take over an hour to get off. I figured about the $4k obo is worth a try. Thanks for you inputs guys

I personally wouldn't even pay 3 for it but I guess the interior would make me think... It would be a different story if it wasn't auto. Your best bet for selling it at a high price is bumping up that it is a "compact car" and I'm sure it gets great gas mileage plus of course it's a honda. I'd definitely go with the 4k obo idea

it depends on where you live i find alot of hondas have high value out west but by me i can get a deal it would be worth 2500-3000 due to it being auto and the body work needed to make it nice the seats are an easy fix but depreciate the car. if it were in perfect shape no ripsdents or rust and auto i pay 3500 tops with the mileage would have to be mint

 

Here are your hurdles:

1.) Automatic transmission. I don't need to tell you that no one wants an automatic Civic because you already know that.

2.) Body damage in a place that's very difficult to repair for cheap.

3.) Less than mint interior. Even with GSR interior (and by that I assume you mean just the front and back seats and not the door panels and dash and consoles and cluster and steering wheel), that will only bump the price of the car up $200 max.

How much did <u>YOU</u> pay for the car? Start there and try to make $500 after the repairs you did. If you did something stupid like buy it for $3000 in the first place, then take it as a lesson and prepare to lose money.
