removing gas tank - hoses question...
so I'm taking my tank off to clean my carbs... question is... Do i remove the hoses from the part where it connects to the tank or to the motor?? which is easier?? I'm guessing the part where it connects to the tank is easier... this is my first time doing this so
you know how many layouts and configurations there are in the world? Not sure what yours is... but it should not be to hard at all. use a twisting motion to loosen, perhaps a thin flat screwdriver to pry, you shold be okay. Just dont yank on it!
I thought it was easier from the motor, if you can figure out how to get it off you should be smart enough to get it back on no problem. It helps to have someone else there too.
Use an old ear plug. Insert it into the hose to keep residual oil from leaking out.
I removed mine at the end closer to the engine. Just remember to use a post-it note or something similar to remind yourself which one goes where. A picture helps the memory, too.
And don't reuse the earplug.

Sorry, I never made it that far when working on my bike. I tried doing the CCT install, but that failed.
All the screws are removed?
Here's what I've got (from the SM):
- Remove the air vent tube and tube bands.
- Remoe the water joint hose.
- Remove the cotter pins, washers, and throttle link.
- Remove cable stay from the front carb.
- Remove the four nut and joint bolts, and separate the carbs.
- Remove the set plates, dowel pins, and fuel tubes.
The pictures are hard to take out of the .pdf file, but I can type more of the instructions...lmk what you need.

whats the deal here... your pull the carbs or yank the tank? if it's both, and you have the tank off and you have access to the carb assembly , then after you have all the clamps loosened wiggle the carbs either up or down or back and fourth, parallel with it's length, while pulling, they will come off
