Default I am thinking about installing a ATS final drive

I have searched and searched and found alot of good information about the ats final drive, but i can never find a write up on how to do it. I know the helms manual helps but still is confusing. Does anyone know any good write up's on how to install a final drive ? Anything will help.

thanks,
cam

I can tell ya how to do it. Really not that hard if your mechanically inclined.

Edit: Here are some pics of what you'll be doing. In the first pic is the diff in which the ring gear get's replaced. In the second pic you can see the shafts. You will need to replace this, along with the 1st gear. HTH

Just buy Intertune B16 200whp DVD ( i think that is what is called)

OmniMan does JDM final drive, and that alone is worth $69 price of that DVD...

User IntegraLS94Cam has asked me to do a write up for the ITR community on this topic. If anyone has more/better pics of the trans taken apart (yeah, I only have those 2 I posted) please PM me with the pics/links so I can perform the write up. TIA

Get a Helms and some beer... that is all you need

No really, the FD install is really very easy. Dave, hit me up, I think I have a bunch of pictures from some of the over 10 FD swaps we have done before.

I think the we-todd record was done at NOPI in under 2hrs.

This is the best thread I have seen about this so far. I can't remember your name, but I think we met last year at Gates on State Line before we left for Expo. Good luck with the install.

You should meet up with us for an Expo convoy. I'm the rubber duck.

At least you are attempting this install. I am too lazy/scared to try it myself.

getting a bit off topic (sorry...)

but if i were to have the final drive installed by a shop...lets say because i would be worried about messing up something when opening up my tranny and doing all that work. about how much would a reputable shop charge?

A very reputable shop in my area with many Honda race cars charges $400. That includes dropping the tranny, all the work, new mtf, giving it back to you ready to drive.

You don't really need a press. You can use a piece of tubing to hammer the gears back on the counter shaft. What you do need is a puller in order to get the gears off. We used the car more as a vice to get the countershaft nut and ring gear bolts off.
