pulley bolt
My step daughter has a 1992 Accord with 110k miles. I want to change the timing belt, but I can not get the pulley bolt off. I can find no reference about it being left handed, so I am assuming it is not. I wedged a screwdriver in the flywheel just like the Haynes manual said, but no amont of torque will remove it. Any ideas?
Thanks

crank pully holder tool and a BIG breaker bar and you'll be all set.
you are correct, it is not left hand thread.
conversely a good impact gun will take it off as well.

oh, no. Don't use the screw driver. I've seen people on here post pictures of chunks from the tranny housing breaking off from wedging the screw driver in there.
I use this tool along with a long extension, breaker bar and long cheater pipe.

If you don't have the special tool, I've used the old alternator/AC belt. (I replaced the belt along with the timing belt because it was already apart) Put it on the pulley like you were going to install it and twist it (like closing a loaf of bread) with a screw driver and lock it around the control arm. Now use the breaker bar and pipe to remove the bolt.
Oh - a good half inch impact gun wouldn't take mine off. And it IS standard thread.
