help! 9000+ rpms on stock motor!
i did the ultimately stupid thing to my gsr. from 5th to 2nd at about 75 mph. revs went passed 9K.
i pulled over and my car would not go into gear. the engine was idling and it was fine even when ireved it up. the gears however would not go it. the clutch pedal got really hard and "springy." when i turned the car off, i could get it in gear. then start it up and was able to drive it and switch gears with that clutch but they barely went in and it was really hard to put it in the next gear. wtf? is it my tranny or just the clutch? i know my motor is good, we at least i hope so. but i managed to get it to a nearby firneds garage and i dont know what to get, a clutch and tranny or one or the other. i guess hte mechanic himself will tell me what i need but i want your opinion as well. help me out guys, i want my car back!

btw...if i need a new tranny, which is the best to go with my b18c1 motor, a stock b18c1 tranny, an itr tranny or a civic type r tranny?

si tranny's or gsr trannys are both geared real well for racing...or if you really wanna get somthing tight get a tranny with LSD(limited slip diferential)...it will make your car handle incredibly....hope it helps...

TeamTooQuick, I think he was dropping it from 5th to 4th and missed and slipped into 2nd. I have a movie of an RSX goin ***** out and shifted outta third back into 2nd at 8200. To say the least it wasnt pretty. I do wish the best of luck to you though bocian, but if you are goin replace your tranny get the ITR one or one with an LSD. Youll be a lot faster off the line and your car will handle a lot better. Since you might replace it anyways, spend the extra $$$ and do it right. My 2 cents.

yea i did missfire! how the hell i could have been so stupid, i dont know. oh well **** happens, at least i can now go for an upgrade right?
ok, heres my question/comment.
how does a b16a tranny with lsd sound? how will this work?
and what about the clutch? which can i use? i think there are many clutches that are made for all b series motors. will that work?
please help out an uninformend honda fanatic.

Ok, 1st of all, you wanna go with a hydraulic tranny period. Second, the us spec B16 tranny never came with an LSD and the 2000-2001 SI tranny had the 4.2 final drive. I would personally go with a NEW JDM 98 up ITR transmission. This would give you the 4.78 final drive and the LSD, this is the ultimate factory setup for an Auto-X, Track or NA drag car.

yea a new jdm itr tranny sounds sweet, but pricey too. i am on a tight budget and im trying to save some money while doing this.

i like the ctr tranny......my friend has a supercharged gsr with a ctr tranny and its raw as lleh ! your top speed wont be that high though ......but i guarantee youll get there faster....he said he's gonna put an integra ls 5th gear in his tranny.....but the itr tranny is good too because it too has the LSD inside----i got a gsr engine in my del sol and i messed up the gsr tranny so i bought an ls tranny........trust me it aint what you want
Thas weird. I remember when I accidently popped it into 2nd gear goin 75mph, but the Clutch never popped back out. It stayed in and wouldn't let up. I'm glad it did that, cuz I never overreved. Does it automatically do that? It was in 2nd gear, but the clutch stayed in, until I put the gear back in neutral. Is it like a safety feature? I dont know what the hell happened, but it saved my engine.
i over revved with mine... going from 3rd to 4th and went to 2nd... car wouldnt idle right.. melted valves.. its ok ride still under warranty.. got a new motor for free... oh yeah it went allllll the way... to the very last red mark
i know a guy that had a 90 prelude with v-tec head and he was trying to teach his girl how to drive and she took it from 4th to 2nd and was still holding the gas.............lets just say it was still smoking when we pulled up
