Default trany fluid side effects

Hey everybody,

I've recently had issues with my CTR trany. It is grinding in 3rd on occasion at regular driving shifting speeds and grinding into second once in a while at high speed shifts. It generally does this once the car has been on the road for about 15 minutes (strange). The clutch is a 6 puck fibertuf with a light pressure plate forcing around 1900-2100 lbs. The trany fluid is Honda trany fluid.

I'm pretty sure the sincros need to be replaced, but I've also heard such things as trying different trany fluid weights to temporarily lesson the problem of mild grinding.

Have any of you had success in varying the weight or type of trany fluid to improve on very minor trany problems?

If so, what type and weight of trany fluid did you use, and what was the problem?

Thanks.

People use GM Synchromesh with the friction modifier. When did you last change your transmission fluid?

The trany is actually out of the car now. But in the short year or so I’ve been using it I’ve changed the fluid at least once.

GM synchromesh? I take it that’s an additive.

Thanks.

No GM Synchromesh is the fluid. Make sure that you use the friction modified version. It isn't cheap.
