Rebuilt 00 Si tranny whining and car bucking?
I recently purchased a 00 Si and I've been driving lightly. When I drive it, the transmission is whining noticeably. The car will also buck when the throttle is applied or let off of. I put the car on a lift and looked underneath it, and the intermediate shaft is maybe a 1/4" out of the tranny. Would this cause the whining like this, or should I check the oil in it? The tranny was rebuilt, and I can't think of what would cause the car to buck like that relating to the internals.
Also, I have no speed, tripometer or odometer. I am STRONGLY suspecting the VSS, but when I pulled it out, it didn't show any signs of wear on the gear. It is rewired, but it looks like it was done properly. How could I test the VSS to see if it is bad, or if I need to look elsewhere?

when someone rebuilt it did they shim it right? my bros car had the same problem when i finished rebuilding it and i forgot to put in a shim for the diff.
It may not be shimmed properly. I don't know who rebuilt it...otherwise I would ask. It clunks somewhat like an undershimmed rear diff would clunk, except it's more audible...I wonder why...LOL!
I am probably going to be pulling the tranny to investigate the problem.
