Default Changing the rear motor mount.

I need to change out the rear motor mount. Do I need to pull the motor or anything to do it? Or should I just take it to a shop and have them do it? It is causing major rocking issues and I would like to get it fixed soon.

ick, I may just have someone do it. See how much it costs, because it is a pain in my butt. It affects the whole car since its so tiny.

It's a pain, but can be done. I do it in about 20 minute max without pulling engine. (experience/tool selection pays).

Really simply if you have SOHC engine in still; little harder with B DOHCs.

Remove the rear transmission bracket first.

Go for the hardest bolt first, the rear mount bracket bolt. I normally get this with a weird set up of tools, but it works.

I put a short 14mm socket. Then a 6" extention, then a 12" extention. I first put the socket on the bolt head, then I put the extention down, at a certain angle, but I don't "lock" it onto the socket......then put the 12" on to get over the manifold. The twist. The extention is not fully into the socket, but it does brake it free. Then I remove the 12" and start to loosen it and get it all the way out....then remove the last two remaining bolts.

What out, before replacing it -if you are replacing it with a stock mount -cut a slot out of the mount so that you can put the bolt in, then slide the mount on, then tighten it down.
But -while you have it out -you can replace it with a billet upgrade (which we offer)

Got a question for you. I have a 1990 Honda CRX si with a b16a motor, I hear a intermittent rattle and rotational squeel from my car. It occurs sometimes when it very cold and sometime occurs hot. Noise is driving me insane. I think your vast experience might give me some direction. I have had the car checked by three techs and could nt see or hear anything. Some say possible wheel bearing, driveshaft or differential. I placed the car in neutral when the noise occurs and no change, noise increases with speed and then goes away after a while. Also my rear engine mount is like almost touching the subframe. Is there any way this can be adjusted? Thanks for ur help. I can be reached at sanj@toyotaonfront.com

Thanks for you help.

Which is the rear tranny bracket, the one the sway bar and stuff is attached to?

Also will a 89HF rear mount work with a 91 HF, I am thinking no at this moment in time because upon further inspection they look different.

i have gotten estimates for labor as low as $100 to replace my front and rear mount.
