Default Track night.....the results are in

I hit up our local drag strip in town tonite (first time since i ran my car stock) and I ran very satisfying numbers (personal victory). You have to know that when i got my Lude, it was my first 5speed and pulling a 16.3 was the best i could crank out my baby (highly disappointed in myself). But here's my jump since my first bolt-on, a CAI, and much better driving abilities (this time slip is from my 5th and final run):

R/T ... 1.018
60' ... 2.321
330 ... 6.301
1/8 ... 9.630
MPH ... 74.01
1000 ... 12.503
1/4 ... 15.015
MPH ... 89.46

Not fast by any means, damn 5th gens, but I'm very happy and very satisfied with my slips---I even got a few props from some 5.0 and TransAm owners. I thought a 15.0 wasn't bad either, since I was launching at 7000 RPMs with no wheel spin . My boys wouldn't let me leave unless i hit the 15.0 mark either, lol. Well I'm done glowing, what you guys think of my first run since stock??

Ok, so I got slight wheel hop, not even enough to tell the difference. I was basically grabbing full traction right at 5200 . Hard on clutch, yeah, but all launching is---Riding the clutch no. I was quick about it and my clutch doesn't feel any different from yesterday. I have burnt my clutch before once on accident, but tonite there was none (and that's after 5 runs). Nothing worse than the burnt clutch stench

I bought some off-brand Nakayama Racing Team CAI off of Ebay for 50 bucks. Works and looks like the AEM.

Edit: I also wanted to ask, what should be my next modification? I'm thinking of going with an ignition system and a fuel pressure regulator. Can anybody throw out some good names for a FPR? I am also considering an Apex-i V-AFC controller instead. Two weekends ago, I met a fello Luder running 14.5's in his 00 Lude--he had his controller dyno-tuned with a CAI and cat-back exhaust (he removed the DC header because it proved worse performance over stock on the dyno).

Vtec controllers dont work as much as people say or think they do...Vtec works by storing enough pressure which allows it to function. People that put there Vtec engaging RPM lower than what is on the car from HONDA is not gaining any Hp, they wasted their $$$, but if you change the engaging RPM to a higher RPM, you will get a stronger Vtec period for a less time...So i dont know if that does anything either....Someone correct me if I am wrong, but my friend is one of those guys that works at Honda and uses it as a front to hookup his car...and thats what He told me

storing enough pressure??!?! vtec does rely on oil pressure to lock the big lobes in, but the reason it exists is to allow the engine to breathe properly up high *and* down low. i've dyno'd my car with various vtec settings, and i know for a FACT that there's more torque from 4000-5200 on the big cam than the little one.

what you don't feel is the sudden jump in power, because the transition is smoother. i've got a supercharger on my lude, so a 3500rpm crossover probably isn't a good idea on an N/A lude, but the principle remains the same.

So what's the verdict on my next move? VTEC controller or ? Look into something else like cam gears, pulleys, ignition, or spark plug wires? I'd like to do internal work, but I'm impatient and broke, and that doesn't work out well, lol
