the original owner of my bike put the grip up too far on the handle bar so that if you crack the throttle it stays there. its just to close and rubs and catches. whats the easiest way to move this back down a bit. i tried a little heat, that didnt work yet. any thoughts?

Cut them off and put some new ones on.
Taking off grips that are glued on is the biggest pain in the *** ever.

Sounds like you've got a custom throttle-lock for some long-distance cruising.
Try sticking a needle-point-attachment (the name escapes me at the moment) connected to an air compressor and blow air under the grips. It should shoot them right off.

if you want to keep the grips, just take a box cutter to the side that rubs and cut a little bit off all the way around.
My friend had the same problem on his RR (from a previous owner), so we just cut a little bit.
You have to do the same thing on bicycles all the time.

ah ok, so theres no real way to slide it back a fraction of an inch so its not sticking? he replaced the grips once before so i dunno if he glued them on or how he did it.

Air hose like marmalade said should take them off as long as they aren't really glued on there good. If they are cutting them off is the quickest and easiest method I've found. Plus new grips are cheap as hell.
