Default Type 2 Maintenence

Hi everyone.
Just a question on the honda type 2 maintenece which my 05 v6 coupe is due for.
Do i really need to spend 140 bucks to get this? or is it just an expensive oilchange with a vehicle check? I can't really justify the 140 bucks . I have 13,000 klms and wondering if this is required for a new vehicle. Also, does this affect the warranty in anyway if I did it myself?
whats really involved in type 2 maintence??
thanks people.

I would suspect Honda UK would have the same attitude as Honda US.
As long as you show compliance to scheduled maintenance, they don't care where you have it done (as long as you can document everything).
If, when you review the maintenance called for it involves an Oil Change and a bunch of 'checks'; have the oil change performed at a discount Quick-Lube and save the repair order with your car papers.
Make the notation in your owners' manual.
You will have satisfied your responsibilities in keeping the car maintained if ever you need warranty repairs.

My cousin has a 2005 RX8 and dealership requires that all maintence be made at the dealership, if not he voids the warranty, yeps it just goes out the door, his first maintence check was an oil change and a huge list of checks and a few other stuff, it costs him 180 dollars, his next one is going to be 600 dollars (no joke...) and the last one if 60k miles which will cost his 9-1000 dollars, seriously...

I'd find another dealership REAL QUICK.
That is not good business practices, nor customer service. If pressed, I'm quite sure the state's Attorney General would look upon it as monopolistic practices and certainly anti-consumer.

but anyways.. so its only 'checks' and oil change?

No difference at all. As a matter of fact; I believe it's all been consolidated under a single Corporate Umbrella called Honda North America.
No disrespect ment to our brethren residing in the Great White North. It's just your cousins across the pond love the town and city names starting with S.
Sussex
South Hampton
new South Wales
Etc
