Default Dash lights won't work : (

I searched and searched

All lights worked fine. Then I installed a CD player which is working fine, however the dash/climate control lights won't work anymore. All the other lights still work (tail, parking, etc . . . ) Could the dimmer have just **** the bed while installing the new cd player? I've checked the fuses all seem ok.

I tried disconnecting my cd player and they still won't work.

Please help. This is annoying.

there is a dimmer output wire at the radio for the stock radio to dim when you have on the lights. If that wire shorted to ground you poped the dimmer.

I wouldn't know how to bypass the dimmer switch. I would recommend going to a junkyard and buying one from there. Can't be more than few bucks.

Could it still be a fuse if all other lights work? ( dome, parking etc . . .)

I'll go double check the fuses now.

Thanks

yes it could still be the fuse if the rest of the lights work. Basically only the cluster and climate control run off the dimmer. (ther are a few other lights but nothing you'd notice) Check the fuse first, under dash fuse box.

to bypass the dimmer, unplug it and leave it removed. (do not plug it back in with this done)
Jumper the red and black wires together. Leave the red/black wire alone.
This will set the dash lights to full on all the time.

Thank You. This should be all the information i need to trouble shoot this problem.

I checked the fuses over and over. They all seem fine.

I'll try to bypass the dimmer.

I just connected the red and black wire from the dimmer together, and the dash lit up!!

Thanks so much Relic.

I'm assuming I need a new dimmer.
