Default Wheel spins in neutral w/ parking brake on and white smoke

My 91 CRX w/ a 95 D16Z6 swap, is having some issues. I bought it from a coworker and I am trying to get it working right. It still has the OBD0 ECU, but a P28 is coming in the mail w/ a harness.

The main problem I am having is that the drivers side wheel spins while the car is in neutral and the parking brake is on. I have never seen this before, but a wild guess is that something is wired wrong somewhere. While doing so, it has a really really high idle , 3000 atleast.

Also what leaking causes white smoke?

Thanks.

So does it spin while its in the air? Mine did that for a while but the white smoke is antifreeze so maybe the head gasket is bad. Check to see if the antifeeze is brown or the oil is green

if your referring to the car doing this when its int he air, its not a problem. both of my efs do it and most of the cars i work on on a daily basis do it as well. as long as you can stop it with your foot (not alot of load spinning the tire) then its not a big deal. if it stalls the engine, you may have a transmission issue.

Hmm, glad to know its not a problem. The next problem is how fast it is spinning in the air. Its not your normal slow spin, its like a bat out of he!!, spins about 3000 rpm.

I think the coolant is bad, its a weird @ss color. The oil is brand new. I was planning on replacing the coolant next anyway.

I worked on the EACV and cleaned it regasketed it. Could the smoke be some of the cleaner burning off because it wasn't smoking before I cleaned it. I was trying to get it off so I could check and see if it needed to be tightened but I couldn't get the coolant lines off, so I am gonna have to check those too.

The smoke is coming out the exhaust.

It runs smooth now. Well I tightened the FITV, it was hella loose. Not sure if that did anything though since no coolant lines are hooked to it, since I am running a 99 EX intake.

I added a butt load of coolant, so that was a major problem too.

I just need to clean the motor and undercarriage very well now and make sure nothing is leaking.

white smoke out the tailpipe means blown headgasket. need to take the head off and replace. a proper job means measureing and milling the head if necessary, and using new head bolts. the stock ones are not made to be reused. the gasket will leak again months later if you reuse them.

the spinning of the tire is normal. just the tranny oil still pushing the disengaged gear as the flywheel is still moving the main shaft (or is it counter, whatever).

</TD></TR></TABLE> Now Im not one to argue, but this is a case where I must state my experience. When we were tryin gto figure out the cause of my old SOHC smoking (oil) we first changed the HG. Nothing. Reused stock head bolts. Then we changed the valve seals, didnt need to pull head bolts but its for the story. Then we changed the Piston rings, and reused the head bolts again. Then we put on a DX head (it was a 8v b8) a few months later reusing the same head bolts. THEN a few months later we put on a z6 head reusing the same headbolts and I talked to the guy two weeks ago who bought the engine from me three years ago, and he has not had one problem at all. SO while it may not be a good idea to reuse the head bolts-i did with no issues.

Hmm, well it stopped smoking. I will check the head gasket one of these days. Not my DD, so its not on the top of the list. I am just glad to get it running right again.
