Cat Heat Sheild & Shift linkage Q's
I just finished installing a WSII exhaust and B&M shifter on my 95 Civic yesterday and I have some questions...
I had to take the Cat off to get the bolts undone and in the process took the heat sheild off the Cat. 10 years of hawaii's salty weather has killed the bolts so I couldnt get the shield back on... Is it worth going to the dealer and getting a new heat sheild/bolts or just leave it off??
The other thing I was concerned about was the shift linkage. The part that goes into the transmission (has a little rubber boot on it) was leaking water... We just had about 2feet of rain in 24hours and so the whole engine compartment had gotten wet... The boot had some water in it so I got all the water out but cannot find any information about that part... do I need to grease in there?? Changing gears is fine but it is a little stiff in some gears... could be transmision fluid?? or is the water that was in that boot a really bad thing??
Thanks for your help..

on the little rubber boot there is a little nipple with a hole just make sure that aims down to drain any water that may have gotten in there.
most people don't have any heat sheids on there cat, I have ripped off many of them because they were completely rusting off and rattling
its not a bad idea to change the tranny fluid if its been in there for a while.

Great. I noticed the little nipple, it was pointing off to the side so I made sure it was pointing down.
I was thinking that the heat shield was not needed so I guess it will stay off.
The new exhaust sounds great... I highly recomend the Apexi WS2! Perfect low tone but not loud enough to wake my 4 month old baby.
