Wierd problem...
I was driving around tonight and I noticed that the shift **** was starting to get unusually warm. I touched the shift boot and it was hot along with the plastic around it. The worst was right under the cup holders. What is going on with my car? Could there be a problem with the cat? This has never happened before.
Hmm... Sounds to me like your catalytic converter is getting too hot and your heat shield isn't protecting too well.. Because if that's the case, I would jack up the car and check it out. On the other hand, your cat might be dead. But I don't think could happen since your car seems pretty new. But I remember my teacher saying something about running rich and that excess fuel and water will burn the honey comb filter stuff. Because for every gallon of fuel an engine burns, it produces a gallon and water. And in that water is acid. That can rust out your cat and your exhaust from the inside. I'm not sure if any of this is info will help so good luck!..
-- some info that I picked up.. 1998 and up b18c1 FPR pressure with the vacumm hose attached should read something from 38 to 46 psi and without the vacumm hose attached it should read something from 47 to 54 psi. I remember my teacher saying that FPR pressure should be set at 43 psi. But I don't know if meant that for every car. --

I'm using my stock cat right now because my carsound was giving me a CEL so I'll throw the carsound back on tomorrow and see if it goes away. I hope it's just a bad cat.
Oh and my fuel pressure is at 44psi which is pretty much what stock pressure is isn't it? So how rich can I be running that my cat would go after only 30,000miles??? Well, I'll see tomorrow.

Did you check to see if your Fuel Pressure Regulator is working correctly??.. Seems to me that you have an aftermarket FPR. Check to see if it's loose or something. Like check to see that the valve is working correctly.. Sometimes that throws pressure reading off. Or might be your FPR vacumm diagphram. I'm not too sure what it is though.. Hope this might shine some light on it.. Good Luck..
