Man, today was a bad day!

First of all, my rear LCA bolt broke off, and now I can't get the front axle nut to budge. I unstaked the nut and stuck a pry bar to get some laverage but it does not budge. How do you get that thing to budge? I have put rust remover spary this morning and still...

Any ideas?

 

Get yourself a 1/2" drive Johnson bar with a stubby extension, then slip a piece of pipe over the johnson bar and have someone stand on the brakes while you pull up to loosen the nut. This worked on my EG, even though we stripped every thread on the axle on the way out....hahaha

 

I broke my rear lower shock bolt last weekend. What a joy. You have to cut the bolt between the LCA and nut side of the shock. Remove the LCA and take it to a shop to have the bushing and what's left of the seized bolt pressed out. Luckily, I already had the ES pieces to replace them with, so I went ahead and had them do the pivot bushings too. I'd rather not say how much all this costs, but it was too much.

As for the axle nut, that's good that you hit it with penetrating oil. Go hit it again before you go to bed. My 18" breaker bar didn't give me enough leverage to get it off either so I slid an 8 ft length of chain link fence post over the end of the breaker bar and had my dad sit in the car with his foot on the brake while I broke it loose. No impact gun on the planet is going to help you here, just old fashioned physics.

My breaker bar isn't very long, like 18". I'll either get a bigger one or get a pipe to fit.

2 Words------ The Torch take the torch to the axle nut, heat it up then put the breaker bar on it. Should come right off, just don't burn anything important. Not too much to be done with the LCA just make sure to put plenty on antiseize on it when you re install

 

4 foot bar worked for me on my ratchet.. move slowly too, leverage is your friend, not impact.
