Default GSR Idles high when cold...???

Its a 97 GSR Sedan and it has the following mods on it... Intake, DC headers, catback exhaust, skunk2 int manifold, underdrive pulleys, 250 LPH fuel pump, and ITR ECU...

The problem is.. when you first start the car when it's cold, it idles between 2000 and 2500, and as it warms up it slowly drops down to about 700... but that's after with warmed up to operation temp. It doesn't fluctuate at all.. It only does it when it's cold.. after it's been sittin for a while. Then I never have any problems...

Any suggestions?? it doesn't surge as if there were a vacuum leak.. so I dont believe that would be it... but it's highly annoying..

Thanks in advance...

it should idle high for a few minutes when cold. if it was a wierd idle id say it was the iacv or air leak

yea that is normal, GSR's run like **** if you try to drive them cold. The high idle is the ECU trying to get the car to normal temperature so you dont waste a lot of gas when the car is cold...

sounds fine, just as long as it comes down by the time it's warmed up

normal... dont worry about it, just wait for it to drop before you start driving, or else say bye bye to your gas

Not sure about your GSR, but on my 92 RS a Fast Idle Thermo Valve creates a vacuum leak at the throttle body on purpose to raise the idle until the car warms up. I just wonder if there is any way to adjust it to bring the 'fast idle' down a tad.

I had the same problem, but I got a friend to check it out and he messed with the fast idle and now it starts at a cold idle of 1500 and settles down to 700 when warm.

For me it jumps to 2000 and in 5 seconds it drops to 1500 then goes lower until about 700ish when its warm. So its probably good.
