can someone explain engine timing??????
Advancing timing may give you a slight increase in torque, but you may also get detonation, and on an ls, you may have to use better gas(89 or 91/92). My personal suggestion, if you decide to do it, buy a timing gun, or borrow one. This has been discussed a lot. You may be able to search and find more info on the board. I found this cool article on the subject though http://www.egr.msu.edu/autoweb/Class...ns/ignsys1.pdf
Advanced timing was the first thing I did to my teg. I eventually returned it to stock, since I was getting some pinging at low revs during take offs.
