Default CD player is flashing for a code. Do I have to yank it and go to a dealer?

I just got this 2001 tonight and the previous owner changed to a new battery and doesn't have the code to get the radio playing again. He thought it could be taken out and for a fee the dealer could get me the code. Is this the only way?

There should be a code in your owners manual, if you have tried it to many times and it wont allow you to type any more numbers in, unplug the battery.

If you can't find anything in the owners manual, just call your local Honda dealership, they should be able to help you.

Yes, yank it and take it to the dealership, along with photo ID of the person whose name appears on the title. And before you post again, SEARCH!

Of all the message boards I go to this one has THE WORST search feature I have ever seen. I would rather you kick me in the nuts then use it.

BTW I agree withsuspendedHatch pull it, go to the dealer with proof of ownership, it only takes them a few sec. to look it up, they only charge if they have to pull the unit, then check the code before you leave. 94

I plan on putting a real system in the car but I would like to hear it play and see what works. I don't have the car titled in my name yet. How hard is it to get the head unit out of one of these? My 98 wasn't too awfully bad but just curious.

Hmmm... I just searched for "radio code" and came up with 9 topics in the current database, and 278 in the archives... Any one of which would have given you the answer you were looking for.

Seems to me that the search function works just fine...

have you tried calling the dealer with the vin #. Ive heard they can look them up that way too. they should be able too since they can cut keys from you vin. and tell you everything about your car as it rolled off the assembly line. but if not your deck is a cakewalk to remove just get the serial #.

OK now if I type "radio code", [instead of "radio codes"] I get 2 recent and 61 archived

Starting to get it "code" gets me 2 and 35

"codes" gets me 0 and 5.

"oem radio codes gets 0 and 0

"oem radio code" gets me 0 and 1

I can't get 9 and 278 using "radio code", [2 and 61] I have also tried searching for other things, probably covered a lot less the radio codes, and not been able to find anything, although I did not think something like not using the plural of form of the word would make a diff. Silly me 94

For all of you who need radio code help. I called honda usa yesterday and if you have the radio serial#,Identification, vin # and registration or bill of sale, they will give you the code for free. All you have to do is call them, then fax them the info at the number they give you and then they will call you back with the code. The number is 1-800-999-1009.
