Removing disc brake rotors...?
Im trying to remove the rear disc off a 95' GSR so I can have them resurfaced.I removed the caliper and this front dome cap and the bolt behind that. How these things come off?
I just did the brakes on a newer dodge ram and the rotors came off with no hassle.
Any sites that show step by step or anything?I have a HELMS but it doesnt show how to remove the disc.

Knock the rotor?I need to reuse it.
I can wiggle it but it wont come off.
Theres a bolts in the back in middle but I cant get to it becasue of the shock.

there is a threaded hole in the rotor that you can put a bolt into and torque down. This should break the rotor loose from the hub. I take it that you took the braketry for the caliper off as well as the screws that hold the rotor to the hub, right?

Use a rubber, dead-blow hammer. It won't damage the rotor.

I got the drivers side rotor off and the hub stayed on the car.The passenger side the whole thing came off hub and rotor. One of the screws that holds the hub to the rotor stripped. Why do they make screws out of metal that will strip? Is there a reason for the type of metal they use?
I took the rotors up to the auto parts store and they cant be resurfaced from the specs they had. Will it be ok to throw some new pads on there until I can buy some new rotors?

Go to autozone and get some rotors. I think I paid like $15-20 each for the rotors. Maybe less. If you can't come up with that then your username is very fitting...haha. I would just wait to put the new pads on with the new rotors...but thats just me.

they strip because you probally used a phillips head screw driver !!
your suppose to use a stike and turn tool, like a screwdriver you hit with a hammer and it turns
there would not really any difference that you would be able to tell both being normal vented rotors. get slotted i've had 3 sets of drilled that has cracked on my dc2 and em1
