HELP with ruff idle on B16a before its to late!
Well I need some help guys. I am running my 91 Hatch with a B16A and it idles ruff. I have, checked the timing, replaced the EVAC with a known good one, upgraded the fuel pump, and checked all the plug wires and cap and rotor.
This thing is wacky too, because when it is idling ruff I can disconnect one of the spark plug wires from the dis and the car still runs the same (ruff). I can unplug all the wires and it won’t kill the motor either. (note only have one unhooked at a time). I am leaning towards fuel injectors but I have no idea. Any help would be great.
Oh one more thing I noticed when I unhook a vacuum line or 2 it idles high but steady. Why would that be?
So any and all help would be great, other wise the wife wants me to sell the thing if I can not get her fixed and fast!

Check, your wiring. It sounds like one of your cylinders is not firing. It could be a bad injector, a bad dizzy, or bad wiring.
What kind of mounts you running? Also replace the fuel filter and take out eash spark plug and see if there is even fuel ignition or is it wet on the plug. If its wet then its your plugs if its dry then it can be your infectors.
Well, I tied off my vacuum line going to my purge valve to the canister and the car seems to idle much better. I am still with all of you and leaning towards injectors. I am going to go with RC injectors thinking 270cc unless any of your tell me other wise.
Thanks again for the help; I hate it when my EF acts up. She just loves new parts and attention too much

I am running AZ Race motor mounts. I ordered a new OEM fuel filter yesterday, should have it 4 to 7 days. I should of thought to replace that since I just did the pump. Sparkplugs have a lot of carbon on them, not wet just dry black carbon… I have the fuel psi at 44. Maybe I am running to fat (rich) or the injectors could be going out. Since I scored the injectors from a friend of a friend type thing about 2 years ago and they looked well used then I am leaning towards them.

try disconnecting each injector plug one by one.
if the car runs ruffer, you know that cylinder was working,
and if there was no change in idle you konw that one injector /wiring is bad.

Ok well I tired your idea and when the car is running ruff (remember it doesn’t do it all the time just most of the time), if I unplug one injector at a time numbers 3 and 4 (cylinders) give me the biggest and least amount of change. Cylinder 3 no change at all runs the same and number 4 the car falls flat on its face. Cylinders 1 and 2 have some change but no where near number 4.
So I am thinking injector number 3 then is bad. And 1 and 2 could be on the way out thus creating an interment ruff idle? Sound good?

What intake manifold are your running? if you have a sotck one then this is your problem once you clear those codes:
gumout intake manifold.
FITV cleaning and tightening. (search for the how to on here)
fully flush then bleed coolant.
i can almost garuntee the FITV and is involved in your troubles, it is for tons of peeps.
see if a difference is made, plus thats all pretty much free.
