Default Rough Idle, im running out of options.

i have a 91 CRx with the 1.5 SOHC v-tech from the 92-95 civic and the idle runs
real rough. ive tried to replace the EACV but when i hook up the 2P connector the
idle speed fluxuates and revs up and down, even if the car is warmed up.
ALSO:
its very hard-starting when the engine is cold, im thinking that has something to
do with the problem but im unsure. I am about to check the fast idle valve now,
so if you guys have any suggestions me and the coupe would appreciate it.

check the stamp on the block near the header. it should say d16z6 and then u will know for sure if its a 92-95 civic vtec 1.6. cuz they did not come 1.5. u either have a mini-me set up or a jdm d15b vtec. a mini me is a 1.5 block with the z6 vtec head. give more info on what ur running, like ecu, distributer, o2 sensor.

Is it just at idle or is it all the time. Any Check engine lights?

Double check your MAP sensor to make sure it's working correctly.

Whats the last thing you changed on your engine before your idle screwed up ?

Is there any DTC's (engine light) ?

Check for vacuum leaks, those are usually the simple issue with idle problems

check your ignition stuff (plugs cap rotor) just replace them, theyre cheap.

If that doesnt fix it, i've done this before and it helped :

Take off your intake so you can see the throttle body
have your hand on the throttle drum so you can keep it running if you need to
spray throttle body cleaner into the butterfly valve, not a lot tho, little squirts

do this for a while, like 1/3 of the bottle.

The idea is the cleaner will get sucked into the TB idle ports and into the IACV and clean out any junk that might be screwing up your idle.

IF that doesnt fix it

As mentioned earlier, check for vacuum leaks. Also, hows the compression of that engine?

Btw your user name for vtec is spelled wrong, ha ha

I think i may have figured out the problem, i did the ECU check and the codes said to check the TW sensor, TDC sensor, & and the Coolant Temp. Sensor. Codes 4 6 & 8 i found that when the previous owner did the engine swap he didnt hook up the 2P plug to the Coolant Temp. Sensor & hooked the wires for the Tw Sensor into the Coolant Temp. Sensor, so i hooked everything up right and the codes dont flash anymore after i reset the ECU, but i have a problem, im waiting on a new radiator because the old one w/ the plastic tank cracked, so i cant start the car to see if the idle still is rough and revs up and down. im hoping i fixed the problem, if i did for sure, i thank you for all your help, if not ill post again.

ThanKs
