Honda's Extended, Extended warranty. Good Deal.
Received a letter in the mail recently, it said Honda had screwed up on something a while back as far as emissions go. So my check engine light has been out (broken O2 sensor) for a while and it's always a pain in the *** to get it inspected.
Well, I took my car up to the dealership, $448 dollars later my car is fixed up. They fixed/replaced the O2 sensor, new distributor, ignition wires, spark plugs, oil filter, oil change, and I think that's it. My total? $12.30 for the inspection.
Way to go Honda.

5th gens that are under a certain mileage (forgot the number, but it's high), are currently eligible to get a free tune-up of sorts. Plugs, wires, dist. cap and rotor, oil change... Some dealerships call it an "emissions check-up".
Contact your local dealership for details. It applies to 5th gen Accords only (I believe)... not sure if there are specific years or not.

this was posted on slickdeals.net a few weeks ago. I went to my local dealer, and they called it a "Emissions warrenty extension."

The only thing that could bite you is that according to the technician who did my car, after market exhausts technically void the warrenty. However, he said he said he'd keep it between "him and me."

Hmm it seems to say the second mileage in the link provided says 75k-150k.. so im guessing anyone above 150k (exactly? or any range from 150k-159k) isnt qualified.. but who knows.. If someone knows if it is the ranges of 150-159k miles then please post b.c i have 153k miles on my 97 .. however if it has to be exactly 150k and lower then that REALLY sucks for me (i havent gotten a letter from honda though) i wouldnt mind knowing all this b.c i need spark plugs, wires and an oil change and if i can get that for free this HOT DIGGITY DAMN!
p.s. honda dealer near me had no idea what i was talking about either.... mabey he just didnt want to do the work

It's 75k-150k. Yeah it's yoru basic tune up and whatever needs to be fixed to make it pass emissions.
My service tech put down that I had 140k instead of 148k so I could still get 10k worth of miles just in case something goes wrong. Pretty cool.

one thing ive found is that most service people at dealerships dont know a damn thing. Esp. when it comes to little known facts or deals within their own company. don't rely on service guys, if they dont know what youre talking about, ask to speak with someone else

Try telling them the year and model. Maybe giving the vin number. That can be a little more accurate.

Enthusiasts have a habit of talking in generations and chassis numbers. Unfortunately, the majority of dealer employees are not what you'd actually call enthusiasts.
