94-95 vs 96 and up..
So my GS-R got stolen a few weeks ago and I need to buy a new one now. But i want a 94-95 model because there are less emission regulations...but its hard to find a nice one and I've seen alot of the 96 and up models...I want to do a single stage vtec crossover with the ECU...but I'm told that if I do that I wont be able to pass emissions...how do I get around that if I buy a newer one? Any help would be apriciated!!!
Thanks

The OBD1 conversion will work, as it allows for subsequent chipping. You will need an OBD1 P72 (p/n 37820-P72-A01) ECU to work the IAB system. The P28 does not have the extra transistor to work the IAB and it also lacks a knock sensor board. The OBD2 P73 will not work well with a stock GSR engine due to the difference in VTEC crossover and the missing IAB capability. OBD2 ECUs are not easily chipped. Keep in mind that you can wire an external RPM switch to work the IAB system.
When he said single stage vtec crossover, i was under the assumption that he wasnt gonna have the the gsr manifold anymore eliminating the secondaries. Skunk2 does come with a CARB number making it smog friendly.
