Door Lock Problems..
I changed out my pass. side, exterior door handle. The one i bought was from a junkyard and was the model w/o the key hole. The one that was one the car previously had one, so i just disconnect the rod that connects to the locking mechanism. Everything was working fine, all installed, and then i closed the door, and now it won't unlock and i can't open the door. any ideas?

bingo
bingo
the panel is still off. all the rods are connected, but the part on the lock that moves up and down to actually lock it, won't go down all the way. Not sure what happened??? It was working fine after i switched the door handle/lock, then one time i closed it, it wouldn't unlock. perplexed???

You can remove the three screws on the side of the door (they hold in place the door lock) and lift the rod up more to be able to unscrew the handle from the rod or you can just keep prying with a flat head.
*** if you decide to unscrew the handle from the rod, get a permanent marker and mark the top on bottom position of the joint on the rod. If this is not properly marked, you won't be able to open the door from the outside because there will either not be enough leverage to lift the joint up to unlock from the outside or it will be too high and will not close properly cause the lock will never engage.

my problem is though, the door is closed, and i can't get it unlocked or open. The latch on the mechanism won't move down and i can't get to the side of the door; since it is closed.

Wasn't aware it wouldn't allow you to open from the inside of the car. There is a rod running parallel to this line _________________ put your hand on it and pull towards the front of the car.
The up and down part you're talking about is for the key, so if the door is still locked pull that rod up.
This is a 1996-00 isn't it?

sorry for the lack of info..its a 93 CX. its that up and down part that won't go down. it won't let me unlock it from the inside lock or actually trying to push on the mechanism.
