Default problem with my 92 accord not turning off

today i went to start my car and i turned the key and the power flickered then i started but it was making a wierd noise. when i went to turn it off i kept turning over as if it were trying to start. even when i pulled the key out it continued. when i disconnected the battery it stopped but i noticed smoke under the hood. i suspect its the ignition switch. anybody have any ideas, it would be appreciated, thanks.

Starter solenoid failed to release, keeping the starter cranking.
There is a single wire (14g) which runs down to the Starter Solenoid from the ignition switch.
Disconnect it and attach the positive lead from a Volt Meter to it.
You should have power to that wire only when the Ignition Switch is in the "start" position. If it's powered in positions OTHER THAN 'start', you've a bad Ignition switch. If it's powered only at the 'start' position, you've a bad solenoid
