dimmer wire for cd player?
i asked this question on another fourm on h-t, but i want a expert answer before i do this. i have a 94 civic dx coupe, and my cd player has a dimmer wire, but my car doesnt (i bought it like this, the wires in the back of the deck is all screwed up). so does the illumination wire behind the eg clock work if i tap it to the dimmer wire of the cd player? i dont want to mess up the cd player by tapping into a wrong wire or something. what other wire could i use?
its like blinding me when i drive on highway stretches that has no highway lights

Your 94 should have an illumination wire in the oem radio harness, it is a red/black wire, (K) in this diagram... http://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/HA-Wiring.pdf

do a google search for pinouts. you probably have an alpine headunit, right? i went through this same thing on my 94 accord when i first hooked up my cda 9807. if you bought a wire harness adapter (which you should have) there's a wire on there that's already set up for that. i pulled my alpine out of my accord and popped it into my teg (gotta love the plug and play of that harness adapter) and lo and behold, the dimmer function still works! do it right. don't do any tapping.
well i didnt have the harness adapter cause all my wires are screwed up behind the deck (theft) and my speaker wires are individually added, and i ran a wire to the battery + fuse , and the ground.
its alright when i drive in the city, but on the highway stretches with no highway lights.. it really distracts me!!

either find the wire behind your factory radio or which fcm gave you the diagram. or grab it at the clock. it is the same color. All it does is show 12 volts when the parking lights come on. Hell you can even grab it at the fuse block. Should work no problem. I never really ever hook up the dimmer anyway. Most customers don't want it, lol
