my buddy did it in his gsr block, when he built his poorman's type r. have the tq of an ls in a gsr block, took the ls crank and rods mated to itr pistons, it works really well

I've heard that the GSR block has to be "notched" out in order for the LS crank and rods to clear. At least that's what a shop told me when I wanted to do this.

I've heard that you are supposed to plug up the oil squirters because the crank will hit them, but other then that it can be done most people go with forged internals though.

the LS crank counterweights hit the oil squirters in the GSR block

any input on why it would be done? wouldnt it be the same displacement? maybe tad longer?

they're both 81mm bore? whats the stroke difference? I'm guessing just rods are the difference?

Longer stroke for more torque It'll have a little more displacement. basically for some one who wants to have a ls-vtec without having to do a bunch of machine work. golden eagle sells the oil squirter plugs for like 12 bucks. If you want to run stock internals it would be better to run it with vtec pistons because they have deeper valve reliefs, it's a must if you are going to run aftermarket cams.

LS= 89 stroke
GSR=87.2 (i believe...)
either way its a very minimal difference

it can be done. i did this with my block, all you gotta do is plug up the oil squirters. like someone said earlier, golden eagle sells them for cheap. its the same as an lsvtec (correct me if i'm wrong).
