Default gaskets around spark plug holes leaking

I have an '89 Civic hatchback. Since I've owned the car I've noticed that the little ring shaped seals around the spark plug openings in the cam shaft cover always start to leak after about 6 months. Eventually they leak so much oil onto the spark plug that my car will run a little rougher, until I change the seals. I've bought most of the replacement seals from a Honda dealer. Does anyone else have this problem? Any way to fix it?

Buy new spark plug tube gaskets and replace them, might as well do the valve cover gasket too while you're at it.

had the same prob. i changed the vc gasket, and the spark plug tube gaskets, and its good so far.

i changed the plugs too while i was at it, all the oil drained into the cylinders, and burned off on startup.

my question mostly pertains to why do these gaskets tend to leak after about 6 months. what i do is change them and while I have the valve cover off, I usually check and/or adjust the valves and also check and/or change the spark plugs. And then the excess oil drains into the cylinder and burns off.

Well if you are taking them in and out are you wiping the oil off of the rubber? Also are you tightening them to spec because if you tighten them too much they will leak.

There is another set of gaskets inside the head. You have to pull the camshaft and rocker arm assembly off to get to those. I have the same problem. I've replaced the tube sealsand valve cover gasket, but it still leaks. It must be from the seals deeper inside the head.

I believe ur problem is that the rocker arm o ring seals are leaking. In order to fix that the valve train assembly has to be remove o rings install re-install valve train , perform a valve adj. Find a experience person to do the job.
