OEM or aftermarket Lip theft prevention....
A few months ago my front lip was stolen (bastards) Well I ordered a new one from Len and when it comes in I want to prevent this one from getting stolen like the last one.
1. I was thinking about going under the car and screwing the screws downwards so they can't get to the screw heads unless they have the car on a jack.
2. Use hex screws instead of the stock phillips head screws. Just need to get the right size.
3. JB weld the badboy on and call it a day
Tell me what you guys think or what you have done. Thanks!

Ideas 1 and 2 have been done by many ITR Lip owners, including myself. Its a step in preventing theft of your lip. I also add Loctite to the threads of the bolt to give it a real strong bond.
Idea 3 - JB weld what? The lip to the bumper? Or the bolt to the tinnerman clip?

Find some security head bolts like you see on some bathroom stalls. They have an unusual pattern that requires a special tool.
There are also security bolts that look like Torx fasteners with a pole in the middle, again requiring a special bit. Probably easier to find those in sizes appropriate for car use.

These would be fun:

OpsitTM Reverse Thread
OpsitTM is a reverse thread sheet metal screw that installs counter-clockwise, thus, tightens if removal is attempted. Available with a low profile Truss-Head and Tri-Wing drive

Rig up pepperspray cans with cords or something to the lip or front bumper. When try try and expletive with it they get sprayed. lol
Whatever happened to those shocker systems. I would still love to have one. Shock the hell out of someone who touches the car

Only bad thing about security bits is now Sears is selling a security bit set with screwdriver and it has about every known bit and size ...

Now a days, it seems as if those type of parking spots are non existent. I mean, we all have to do things and go places, and nowhere caters parking spots to our own personal requests/needs. And lets say we did choose parking it in a "good" place, who's to stop the theif if you're not at your car?

lol, i say do the screws in the opposite way downwards instead of up, and put a few razor blades on the underneath part of it (backside of the 2 outside screws). just don't forget about them

Now that I think about it, I don't think screwing the screws downward would work because it wouldn't hold the lip on... ARGH!!!
And red loctite is a perm solution which I don't want because the last time I went to smog my car they had it on a raised Dyno and I had to take off my front lip

Park up close to a curb so that they cant get at the underside of the lip without raising the car up pretty high on a jack to get at it. I have approx 30 self tappers holding my lip on, if they want to screw all them out and can get at the lip then good luck to them!
Use Torx security bolts. Yes there are more "extreme" measures, but most thieves do not have the bits to get these off.

They are easy to install with the tool. I have them on my license plate now becasue that got stolen off my car at church. Go figure.
