The Friday OT
Since the season is pretty much starting, I fear the Friday OT is about to go away.
Nevertheless, today's Napster Nugget is...
Porno for Pyros - Pets.
Scott, who doesn't think we'd actually make great pets.

My season doesn't start for a while so I'm "gonna have a TV party tonite - Alright!"

Or maybe you guys would prefer to take a nice Holiday in Cambodia?
Scott, who cares alot, and says "All I wanted was a Pepsi, just one Pepsi."
PS - When they are playing the stuff you listened to in College, then known as "punk" and "progressive," on the classic rock station... Are you officially "old?"
I'm off to blow the dust off The Sisters of Mercy 'cause I want MORE!

My sentiment exactly.
Unfortunately, having seen Perry and the crew in concert again about 4 years ago, he's still the same dysfunctional sorta guy he was 15+years ago. At one point in the show he came on stage and began to sing, not into the mic, but instead in a liquor bottle. Much to his surprise it (the bottle) wasn't hooked up to the amps/speakers
Other than that minor incident, the rest of the show was pretty good. He even had a local after-party where he was spinning his newer techno (which kinda sucks, imo).
Christian, who also saw Peter Murphy in concert a few years back... there's not much worse than a middle aged, balding ex-goth supa-star

One of my favorite guitar solos of all time is in "Let's lynch the landlord".

Remember that Perry was a kid who became a rock god at age 18. He was doomed to dysfunction.
And of course I prefer JA to PfP, but the purpose of the Napster Nugget is to dig a little deeper. The first time I heard JA was "The Mountain Song" somewhere around '88/'89. I can remember thinking "Wow, what the hell is that?"
But I have my vices too. I prefer The Sundays version of "Wild Horses" to The Stones (I think its the hot girlfriend I had that sang it to me at a party one night, unfortunately wild horses didn't drag her away... A rich guy did, but I digress).
Maybe its just the attraction of a pretty girl singing a pretty song instead of... Mick. Actually, yeah, thats it.
Scott, who saw Peter Murphy way before he was bald.
And REM at a private party.
And Living Color before the first album was released.
And had Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins bootlegs before they were signed.
Yeah... I'm old.
PS - I've seen a couple hundred live shows, and Drivin and Cryin is (was?) the loudest f**king band on the planet. Louder than Van Halen, Iron Maiden, The Cult, Rush... All of them. I think I got permanent damage, and it was an outdoor show.

Nope.
Dinosaur Jrs "Get Me."
Its the rare combination of loud, distorted, and sad. You can feel the pain. Seriously.
Its the same reason I really did Sarah McLaughlin's "Possession." Dude, she's not just singing that ****, she MEANS it.
Oh, and it gets the ladies my age all hot.

My roommate in college hated Jane's Addiction he was big into Dave Matthews. And listen to is constantly now I like a little Dave but 3 months solid is old so I started playing Jane Says cause he didn't like it. Since his name was James though I change Jane to James and sang it to him. To this day he I still call him and leave him a msg on his phone singing it to him. Ah if it wasn't for friends we wouldn't have any enemies.
I've been listening to Our Lady Peace and just picked up the new Dane Cook CD/DVD

Its on their first release called simply "Janes Addiction" from 1987.
It also has the original version of Jane Says on it.
Yes... I have it.

OK, here comes the debate.
I think Dane Cook is a hack.
His comedy involves things like acting like a monkey and humping bar stools. Whoopie. But I will give him credit for being a good bar stool humper.
But... IMO thats not funny.
Patton Oswalt, Mitch Hedberg, Dimitri Martin, Zach Galifinakis, Bill Hicks... Funny. Really really funny. They use their brains and write stuff thats funny.
Dane... Not so much.
JMO. Funny is what it is to the individual.
But if you've ever heard Brian Posein's bit about the online sex with the woman who thinks shes a cat... OMFG thats funny.
"Nnnno!"
"I've got cats at home, I can make that happen if I want to."

Christian, who'd like to add that Perry's liquor bottle singing was to the opening of "Mountain Song" after he had finished playing a really nice acoustic set (including Jane Says and Summertime Rolls)

What about David Cross?
His standup is great, and his performances on Mr. Show and Arrested Development were spectacular.
I was thinking I was getting old; but then listening to you guys cheered me up a bit

You need to see his DMV bit that may make you change your mind. To each his own.

Nigel Tufnel: Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where?
Marty DiBergi: I don't know.
Nigel Tufnel: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?
Marty DiBergi: Put it up to eleven.
Nigel Tufnel: Eleven. Exactly. One louder.
Marty DiBergi: Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder?
Nigel Tufnel: [pause] These go to eleven.
