Default Ok, im confused on the timing.

Ok so i lined up my cam gears on my B16a head. Then i was told to line the mark on the cover up with the lone single mark on the crank pully. But through searching i found 2 other ways. one is lining that mark up with the red mark, and the other is lineing up with the white mark. Am i missing something. With out using the gun, what mark on the pully should the line on the cover match up with?

it the white mark. line it up with that and also have the cam gears lined up to each other. u also have to turn the gears 3 teeth before u should tighten the tensioner.

The single one off to the right is supposed to have been painted white. That's the one you use for camshaft timing. It's right at TDC.

The group of 3 is for spark timing. Don't use that for camshaft timing.

There's also (usually) a mark on the crankshaft timing sprocket itself, to line up with a mark on the oil pump. That works when the front-lower timing cover is off.

There's a couple of specific Honda engines that have different markings, too. Gotta be careful when you read about the marks on a different engine-type.
