Default Painting the plastic... help?

So I am planning on repainting my side moldings and bumper on my 89 DX Hatch as soon as the weather gets decent. I will probably just recolor them the black they came(my car is gold/metallic sand). I think I know the process of prepping the plastic but does anyone know the process of removing the side moldings and such? Is it hard? It is worth it to take them off, or should I just leave them on? Any input would be great.

Thanks.

Just leave them on and mask everything off. That is, unless you can go to the junkyard and practive taking the mouldings offa other cars/saving any clips you don't break . The clips on the mouldings break off easily.
