i have a 2000 civic si, and was wondering if it would work to put the hx 5 speed trans onto my b16? since 1st and 2nd gear are alot taller than my trans. anyboyd done this before?

D-series transmissions aren't compatible with B-series engines. Might be possible in the Monster Garage though.

 

lol... yea, that sucks, my one friend was mentioning something about it to me, so i figured id try and find out.

 

Just out of curiosity, why do you want the longer gearing?

 

you could pull out of first at like 62 mph... that would be awesome.

thats all good and well, but the b16 has short gearing for a reason, almost all; its power is made at the high rpm range....it would take forever to arrive at the higher rpms and you'd probably fall out of VTEC when shifting....it would feel like a slug for sure

 

dude, that sucks. lol. its only a dream of such a great thing some day for it! haha
