Sorry if this has been covered before- searches didn't show anything.
After shredding my stock rear crossmember, I have sourced an EDM unit that is from a VT and LHD.
My question is: will I still have to cut/bend the lip on the crossmember to get my Hasport rear mount to fit?
My old crossmember had to be cut and welded for proper fitment but in 4 years it still opened up like a tuna can and eventually torque tore out the rear mount.
Just want to know if the EDM unit will help any, or should I just save my $$?

Never dyno'ed it- it's a mild build. This didn't take much...
What it DOES have is a brutal 6-puck unsprung clutch and I'm sure this caused a lot of torque loading to that area every time it was engaged. The crossmember opened up from the leading edge of the stamped metal and followed the contour of the mount backwards in two parallel fissures until the mount finally tore out.
What I'd really like is an aftermarket tubular rear crossmember, but no one seems to be making one.
What about you RHD guys? Do you have to mod that mounting point to get an aftermarket rear mount in there?
I've heard that the JDM EF8/9 and EDM VT rear crossmembers were a beefier design, but if I'm cutting and welding to get this mount in there, I see myself running into the same problem in a few years.
Some advice please?

The RHD rear xmember is the same actually. Its the steering rack thats different (of course)
Also i was thinking about that the other day. Rear Tubular Xmember would be pimp! It would have to be STRONNG!!!

You need a front motor mount, I just dont understand Iv ran turbo gsr, nitrous b16s, and all motor gsr all on the stock 91 dx crossmember no problems now if ou only have the back and side mounts with an unsprung clutch then i could see the problems...
Just replace w/ a new one and run a front mount bracket!!

Well, a front mount would be great! But where are you sourcing it from?
Last time I checked, even Honda does not sell just the mount.
It comes bundled with the front X-member (for a lot of $$) and honestly that stock front X-member will probably be replaced w/ a tubular aftermarket piece .

That would be great!
I'd love to see some pics when you can get around to it.
I'll just pull some MacGuyver **** outta my *** on this one, but that front mount will be worth it.
Snowing in Reno- raining in LA. No top-down today. :-(
Take care ya'll & thanks for the advice.
