ive been driving like this for a while, like when i turn on the headlights, the cd player wont dim. the deck has a dimmer wire, but my car's radio wires are all messed up when i bought it, so i just hooked a + wire to the battery, -, and the rest to the speakers. so my question is, where is a subsitute for the dimmer wire? will the dimmer wire for the clock work? or what other wire works when i tap into it. its a 94 civic coupe dx. thanks

gets very irritating when i drive for an hour on the highway with no lights

 

someone might know.. i dont want to get distracted when driving with the bright deck!

 

here's a list of all of the factory stereo wires/colors behind your deck.
as you can see there is no dimmer wire, but hooking up the illumination wire from your deck to the factory illumination wire (red/w black stripe) should do the trick

Constant 12V+ ..........Blue/White
Switched 12V+ ..........Yellow/Red
Ground .....................Black
Illumination ...............Red/Black
Dimmer ....................n/a
