Default amp/stock radio

i just searched "amp stock radio" and came up with one result that answered my question but i just want to be 100% sure. i have a 97 civic ex and my plan is to put the oem radio back in with an ipod plugged in via aux adapter. i also want to run an alpine 4 channel amp to power my alpine type r speakers. how would i go about doing this? im pretty sure i use the speaker level inputs on the amp but what exactly do i do with the remote wire?

thanks guys

You would still use the remote wire to turn on and off the amp. The function of that doesn't change because you're using speaker-level inputs. And yes, I believe using the high-gain amp inputs will basically create a fully functional system.

Hopefully your stock deck has a remote wire, but if not, you'll have to find a place to splice it into the ignition.

Your stock deck will not have a true "remote wire". You can tap it into the switched power lead going into the deck or use the accessory freepin on the fuesbox.

No stock honda decks have a remote wire. If you tap on to the ingnition I would use a in-line fuse to protect the from burning down your car.

It's worth it to get an aftermarket deck, unless of course you're going for a "stock" look on the dash.
