Default new build car wont start

Aight guys i searched for it but found nothing like this. Ok Car is a 96 gsr i jus finish building up a type-r motor for it. I went to start it and it jus turns over doesnt even attempt to kick over. Its getting fuel, fuel gauge is around 44 while attemting to start it and oil pressure is around 25 while trying to start it. Its getting a spark cuz i pulled one of the plugs on the distributer and jus pulled it back a bit and i can see the spark. The crank, timing belt and cams are all spinning while i try to crank it i dunno wtf the prob could be. Any help would be appreciated cuz i swear if i cant fix it imma burn my garage down n collect the insurance money.

Do you have it timed properly?

Are you sure that you have the plug wires hooked up right on the distributor for the firing order. If you have the positions off by one the car will not start but will do all the things your saying it does. Good Luck

Thx im positive i work on cars all day n i know its something that can be easily over looked but ive been at it for a few days now. i jus dont get it everything is workin the way it should it just wont fire up no sputter or nothing as if i forgot to put the spark plugs in. I jus dont know what it could be or what i can check. If it turns out to be something small like it usually is i will feel real stupid but releived at the same time.

how is the inside of the cap and the rotors. might be some sligh carbon tracking making the spark weak.

just do the spark test
get a long screw driver put it in the spark plug wire touch electrode hold the PLASTIC HANDLE and hold it over your valve cover ground have someone start the car you should see a spark jump from screwdriver to ground ??
didn't know if you knew what i was talking about so i just explain it incase
no offense meant.

does it smell like gas when you try to start it ??? if it does no spark or flooded cylinders. check for spark with screwdriver then check you coil with volt meter !!

also checking with scredriver is a better bet of checking plug wires rather than at the distro, you get the end result of whats getting to the plugs
maybe a weak coil

hate to beat a dead horse but, sounds like spark man

check to make sure the mechanical timing is right, make sure the 2 notches in the cam gear line up, are you sure fuel is getting into the cylenders, maybe its a injector problem?

yea i think he definaltly needs to check spark after wires and check if it smells like fuel or not ! trying to start a car with no spark = strong fuel smell

if there is alot of fuel backed up in the cylinders you need to take the plugs are wires out crank it a few times WITH NO FLAMES AROUND clean up the fuel that should of squirted out. reinstall and restart. You can seize your motor when to much fuel enters (i did it when i was turbo damn fuel pump didn't know when it the fuel system was pressurized) but, i'm beating the dead horse 1 more time if you got alot of fuel backed up in there its you wires, coil or ICM or a loose distributor changing timing i seen that one too

how long has the car been sitting?? I had a problem kind of like that thought it was the timing turned to be that the gas was bad.. Don't know if the person put diesel in it or the gas just went bad. I had to drain the gas tank get all the gas out of the system and then I refilled it and it started right up. Just a thought..
