Acura Integra All Integra Except ITR

Can someone explain why you can only use the original cam caps from the head?

Default Can someone explain why you can only use the original cam caps from the head?

with the search being down and all, i figured i'd ask here.. i know you have to use the original cam caps that come with the cylinder head, but the question is why? looking for a somewhat technical answer.. thanks

because the cam caps are line bored with the head.

if you change the caps from another head that cam journal will not be perfectly round.

you "can" try and use diffrent cam caps but you will have to have a good machine shop check and modify the line bore of the cams journals after.
