So everybody says that the AEM intake "whistles". Well my short ram whistles and so does my stock intake...all at partial throttle at low rpms (<5000 rpm). What causes this? Should I be concerned that even with the stock intake, it whistles?
Mind you the short ram whistles much louder and easier (to produce).

might have a vacuum leak somewhere other than the intake itself. i have a supercharger and where the supercharger bolts onto the intake manifold, there was a leak... well you heard a whining, whistling noise... i say check for a leak where the throttle body meets the IM and where the IM meets the head. Then check the exhaust side...
It is just the air going past the half open butterfly....happens on stock too, but the stock filter and box do a better job of muffling it. Some people say that you can try to fiddle around with the throttle adjustment to fix it, but I have not tried.

That's what I thought, it's totally normal. The short ram intake I am running is just a generic filter on a stick (it came with the car when I bought it used). But now, I'm running the stock box with K&N filter.
